Hello All!
The pediatrician in me knows that you should begin the introduction of solid foods somewhere between 4 and 6 months of age. You start with rice cereal and then slowly introduce a new additional food; one per week.
The mom in me decided to try this milestone at 4 months and 3 weeks; you know because the pediatrician in me thought they were born 3 weeks early and deserved a little extra exclusive-milk-feeding time. We started with rice cereal... that was a fun adventure! And if by "fun adventure" you read "a whole new adventure in the diaper department."
After a week on rice cereal, we decided to advance to apples! I know... thrilling... right? Believe it or not... I cooked it myself! Yep... me... the girl who hasn't cooked a meal since she married her awesome-super-fantastic-cooking-husband! I cooked apples for my babies and it wasn't even hard. The hilarious part is the fact that I first bought a cookbook. An expensive - had to travel all the way to Williams-Sonoma - had to have it - cookbook. The cookbook is great! But, I probably could have delayed the purchase of said cookbook by at least another 3 months. Basically every recipe for 4-9 month olds is as follows:
1. Take food. (Insert your choice of food here... apples, pears, peaches, bananas, sweet potatoes, etc).
2. Steam food.
3. Mush food.
4. Feed food to adorable twinkies!
5. Clean food from adorable twinkies face, hair, ears and hands.
6. Give up and just give adorable twinkies a bath and new outfit.
Alright... alright... I may have made up steps 4-6, but did I really need a cookbook for steps 1-3? Haha... oh well... you live you learn!
Now... without further ado... the incredible solid-food-eating TWINKIES!
Lots of Love,
Liz and Scott and Bentley and Parker
